Mr.
Hunter joined Granite Development, LLC in 1992 as Asset and Leasing Manager
for all Granite’s real estate holdings. In 1995, as Granite’s
retail development portfolio expanded, Mr. Hunter found his niche as a
lead developer in the retail and shopping center development industry
and is now currently involved in all aspects of shopping center development
including retailer relations, site selection, development, due diligence
work, lease negotiation, construction management, design, and finance.
Mr. Hunter feels that a hands on, one on one, approach to property management
is crucial in maximizing asset value and has always maintained a presence
in the asset management of Granite Development’s real estate holdings
and continues to oversee Granite Development’s property management
and leasing staff.
Prior to joining Granite Development, Mr. Hunter worked for a small industrial development company in Raleigh, North Carolina (1986-1992). His primary focus was on sales, leasing, and property management of small office/warehouse (flex space) business parks. He attended Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, for his undergraduate studies and received his A.A.A. degree from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina. Mr. Hunter is also a graduate of the North Carolina Realtors Institute (GRI) and a Licensed Real Estate Broker. He is a member of the North Carolina Association of Realtors; Surry County Association of Realtors; and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). Mr. Hunter is an active member in the Mount Airy Jaycees; the Mount Airy Sunrise Rotary Club; Past Board Member of the Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce; Past Chairman and Board Member of Surry County Economic Development Partnership; and in the fall of 2006 was re-elected to the Surry County Board of Commissioners to serve his second, four year term where his fellow Commissioners appointed him as Chairman. Mr. Hunter is married to Michele Martin Hunter and has four children:
C.J., Gaines, Worth, and Mary Grace. He and his family attend the Jefferson
Church of Christ. Mr. Hunter is a board member of the Shepherd’s
House (Homeless Ministry) and currently serves on Surry County Young
Life Committee and is a Young Life Volunteer Leader at Mount Airy High
